This is a poem about me coming out of a very abusive, 16 yr long marraige to live. It is about shedding the pain and living with a smile. I am working on that! A long process but well worth it.

Emotions raging out of an unknown
or long forgotten part of me
Not bad emotions, but not normal for my world
I know I must have felt these in some other time
But my mind cannot place the event or reason

Emotions so alien to me
that they might as well not be real
An outcry in my heart
Reaching, climbing and beating
to an unknown or not remembered tune

Faster my heart pounds,
The pit of my being flutters
A smile on my face
Happy thoughts in my mind
Such simple things so alien to me

My eyes shine this night of nights
For always will I remember the newness
The awakening that I have experienced
The freedom that has come with a smile
The weight of the world is no longer mine to bare

New emotions rage within me
Something to replace the pain that was my world
It is such a giant leap into the unknown
But it is my leap to make
From the fires of hell I have arisen...alive
Feeling...
