|Review of: “YOURS TRULY” By Susan Beth Nemitz
ISBN: 1-4241-8324-3 www.freeweb.com/fairyofprose
My oh my how things have gone a rye.
She sits pen and paper in hand.
Coffee in one hand, cigarette in the other.
She tries to make some sense of the thoughts swirling in her head.
Why oh why? She releases a big sigh.
The time slowly ticks by
She’s afraid she’s heard his last good bye.
She stares at the clock and screams, “ why didn’t you work?
You’re a damn alarm clock, why didn’t you work?”
Her head is aching, ready to burst.
She cries out and begins to pout.
He put his trust in her, she trusted a clock.
I knew I had to at least share one of the poem’s in this excellent collection of Poetry, “YOURS TRULY.” I love Poetry and appreciate those who have real skill at writing it, like Susan Beth Nemitz. The poem above is so complex, with a ring of truth as well as being ironically funny. This book has real substance; it deals with questions we all ask our selves, and reveals the realities of life. It is not a long book but I noted some favorites of mine. There was a couple I could see and hear as lyrics of song, like “A Lady,” “Apprehension,” “Thought” and even “Gift of Life.” Then there were three more that I personally related to, “Time,” “My Love and My Life,” and “A Longing for Death.” It is interesting I have listed for you about eight of the author’s poems. What would be better is get the book for your self.
In reading this book I enjoyed finding the author, Susan Beth Nemitz in her work. It was a little hard due to these collection of poems were from far in her past to present day. What I did understand Susan Beth Nemitz has lived quite a life. It has been jammed full of disappointment in people and life? Then at the her breaking point of despair, she seem to find strength in herself and others sprung up to fill in her gaps. It is good for us to experience her emotions with this written word of Poetry. I am glad to have reviewed her collection because it was a 5***** Event!
