A Place Called Happy

She had always been on the outside looking in, craving love and happiness.

A lone little girl, sitting on a hill,
Desperately searching for a place called Happy, she knew it was real.
She will know it when she finds it, it is a sunny place,
The warmth she will find there will dry the tears from her face.
Her sad eyes strain for just one little peek,
Her heart pines, as faithfully she seeks.
She has heard that all that dwell there wears a sunny grin,
She hopes the townfolk will be kind and welcome her in.
It is so lonely upon this hill and so cold too,
She sits and trembles and watches her body turn blue.
She refuses to give up her quest and ignores her pain,
She will have nothing to lose and happiness to gain.
The poor little soul begins to pray,
She asks for a guardian Angel to please come and show her the way.

The little girl deserves more than happiness in my book...even more than ecstasy if that were possible. A heart that hungers shall be fulfilled.

Your poem makes me sad. I believe that happiness is what we make of life - lemons or lemonade. Yet, it is difficult for some to find happiness when life around them is full of pain. I hope your 'little girl' finds happiness, soon.

God bless you. Kathy
