I have not posted anything for a while. I was very busy with several projects that were time-sensitive. I have come across a quotation by Plato and decided to share it with everyone.

"Poets utter great and wise things which they do not themselves understand!"     ~Plato

The above quote describes poets as people who preach water and drink wine. To me, the meaning is:

Follow my words not deeds

Follow my instructions not steps

Follow my advice not examples!

What do you think dear poet?

few poets are examples of anything except being poets ...

Interesting. I agree with your interpretation, although, as Stan and Reg wrote, when a poet writes, the writing may be so strong and inspired that it transcends what he/she is able to do in real life.
A doctor cures people, but this doesn't mean he/she is never ill. And I would say fortunately, as personally, I don't think I would trust a doctor or a poet who isn't human.
I have seen so-called poetry from very grandiloquent people - we have at least one on this site - but what's the interest of reading pieces written by "authors" who think they are God?

Thank you for making us think.

First of all, welcome home; you've been missed!

Second, a deeply thought provoking write you've penned: excellent.

to me it means that we may utter words of brillance, that came out through us,but that we may not take full credit,or even be aware of the full meaning or impact of what we said, had any signifance, becaus it is bigger that us,not always but sometimes I think that may happen,

To me it means that I may speak better than I act. Anyway, you provide substance for thought and I thank you. Love and peace,
