Just do it y'all...let's all pull in our doubts, pack up our fears of the power elite and just do it regardless of who gets voted in for whatever! Our change is not up to a government, the reason America exists is because someone got bold enough to initiate change without the government's guidance. Let's start by getting to know our neighbors whom we don't speak to, and our churches that we don't visit, and our volunteer organizations whom are never given credit when things go right but are always blamed when things go wrong. Stop blaming, let's all start claiming and taking back what's ours...our communities.

Dedicated to the 40 years of remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s martyring, and also inspired by Authorsden Icon whose link will be at the end of this poem. He's a wonderful writer and a great inspiration to those who seek to be re-inspired at the writer's keyboard.
it's so easy to stand for nothing...
mama called it "sittin' down"
it's easy to keep your silence...
papa called it "stay your place"
it's easy to ignore the issues...
my best friend says "don't get involv'd"
but what is difficult is
once we've been brainwash'd. . .
can we recognize fog from the cloud?

| What a great analogy Cynth'ya. Apathy and appeasement have never gained one good deed, bartered one advancement, settled one dispute worthy of note in the annals of mankind. If you will not stand in defense of your principles and your God. Sit with your lips forever sealed. Jon Michael Willey |
