typical secretary's day

They don’t say Good Morning, just line up at my desk.
Would you do this, have you ordered that, we only have
so much time.
I needed this yesterday, I forgot to say, but please get to this
Other thing, I must have it today.

But if they have a problem they come to me.
I don’t know how to do this; can you help me with that?
If there is a personal problem, I’m a sounding board.
I’ll listen to my “children” and whatever went wrong.

This is a typical secretary’s day, waiting on my people.
Taking orders or listening to what they have to say.
I really don't mind, I feel  like I'm someone,
But darn it, I want more pay!

I know a lot of women in that profession and I sure appreciate all the hardships they (you) have to put up with. You are always on the frontline and often "carry" the outfit you work for in more ways that is appreciated. Thank you for sharing, Mary. Love and best wishes,

Regis

I was a secretary/office manager/admin. asst., for many years Mary and you really hit home with this poem. I had a sign behind my desk with funny characters laughing and rolling about and the words, "You Want It When?" underneath. It worked. Sometimes. :-)

...with much honesty...you give a sense of lightness...and the feeling of tall...to the most small...from your desk...
well done Mary...

This made me smile...because it's so very true.

A thoughtful poem for the occasion! A secretary not only looks out for the best for his/her boss, but also for the people who work around him/her.

If you are a secretary I hope you will get the raise and the flowers and gifts that you deserve!!!
