 Alone in sadness

a man

now so aged

The years glided by

he could hardly keep up

with time

One day it

(time that is)

seemed to come to a screeching

dead end

Stopped

And in his room

in his own bed

he lies

Fighting his bodies will to perish

begging God to

turn back time

As the door to his closet

cracks open

he hears faint cries from his past

in the corners of his mind

The regrets, the secrets, all the lies

all those years into the closet

he threw them

The bribes, the down low business deals

the innocent robbed

The women who's hearts sobbed

after he crushed them

and threw them into

the closet too

As he lie now

unable to move

the only thing he couldn't throw away

that wouldn't fit in the closet

with the rest of the bones

Is growing old,

and tired,

and diseased

and as his mind slips away

The faces of those in pain,

(because of his selfish gain)

tear through his memory,

like an unrelenting tornado

Once young, rich, strong,

and irresistible

to the most beautiful of women

Friends always near

The finest clothes, not one night alone

Now

his wealth and possessions offer no comfort

and will be left to a stranger

a son he never knew

by a woman he barely knew

He prayed the boy was

wiser than he,

richer in love

and knowledge

An old man

losing his mind

and his heart beat

with no one

by his side

Only a hired nurse

with thick hands and bulging waist

turns him

and cleans his own

bodily fluids

from the sheets

A stench from not being mobile for

weeks and weeks

and weeks

He'd made love to many women

but loved not one

Dieing all alone

He weeps

and weeps

and weeps

A tough journey. Words cannot easily express...

Only God can heal.

There is a truthful moral to your story, Sophia. Sad but true, this is not an uncommon theme in this world. Thank you. Love and peace to you,
