I post this poem for Jennifer Butler after reading her poem about kittens.
BTW, feel free to print this out if you like. |

SOFTLY
Padding across the velvet dark, contradiction all combined
Brushing across my sleeping face, friendship so inclined
I feel so happy when you honor me, by being close to me
Whispering softly in my ear, all the secrets that you see
From a little furry ball of fluff, to prancing, dancing sage
You make this drama that I live, bring laughter to my stage
Listening to my every word, quietly nodding answers to my pain
For every moment that I want to quit, you are there again
Anything that I could do, to make your day a joy
Some catnip packed within your very favorite toy
As I gaze upon your form, laying on your mat
In all the world I know, there is nothing like a Cat

Chris,
Being a cat person myself, I can relate to this. What a tribute to our furry friends. They give such unconditional love.

| Yes, I know. I should be thankful to the gods that I am continually blessed with cats. If it weren't for my dear sister, who took in two of these kittens, we would have six kittens and the mama. They all showed up at our house just in time to avoid the cold weather. Now, if you will, picture four rescued kittens doing what you have written here and you might think my poem a bit funnier. |
