A Valentine Poem

A fairer lady would be hard to find,
In any nation either near or far,
To have completely captured heart and mind,
And graced my life, my California star.

Daybreak brings a greater joy and challenge,
Demanding more of Love's eternal source,
Even though my persona may seem strange,
Not acknowledging fault or changing course.

For as much as love offers - love returns,
With greater blessing than ere one deserved,
Though Love's wages no husband ever earns,
Yet I press on to payment undeterred.

And knowing yet that I can ill afford,
To lose the joy of claiming Love's reward.
