In this world, there are a million ways to hurt.

                                   In this world,

there are a million ways to hurt.

Who needs a gun or a knife?

Or even sticks and stones?

Nothing, not even glass, cuts like words.

They slice fatally through the heart

Like a bullet through a thin layer of silk,

With remarkable ease,

Yet deadly accurate.

The body continues to walk

While the heart and soul

Quietly die.

Well done! And ever so true!

Your words are so very true. Hearts and lives have been shattered by just one carelessly spoken word. Sometimes on purpose, sometimes unintentional, but the hurt is the same. My compliments for this superbly crafted poem that speaks a million words.
