The risk of peace is pricey.
It buries sacred cows.
It requires that we honor
Old-fashioned sacred vows.
If we take a chance on peace,
We run the risk of being wrong.
We see that in the brotherhood of humanity
We’re not the only ones who belong.
We risk being seen as fallible.
We’re not in total control.
We’d risk giving up our own opinion
To hear the wisdom of the whole.
We risk not having the final word.
We risk not exercising our might.
We risk the entire world knowing
We’re not the arbiters of right.
If resources of the world are shared,
Global economy’s abundant.
If we risk the choice of peace,
Then war becomes redundant.
A pledge to live in harmony
Is a quest that’s never finished.
If we risk a world where peace prevails,
Humanity’s not diminished.
If peace is our unwavering intention,
Battles of prejudice naturally cease.
War is the answer of the coward.
It requires courage to live in peace.
