I just wished and wanted and dreamed
And dreamt and schemed and kvetched for your
love to manifest itself. But

all I got was heartache and
eternal desire . . . unanswered
in darkness and light, in joy and
sadness, in sickness and health. YOU

nor I, were ever there to care.

Oh, we did, but all we showed were
words, not deeds, our actions
lost in obligatory promises.

I never saw you . . . much, you never me.
Yet . . . we cared. But did we? We needed
but we couldn’t. Our lives were separated—
as one (no two lives), in annihilation.

Our chiseled marks upon existence led to
work, family, drink, longing and sorrows.

Loss could not be any less potent than
hard tears for choices made before time
found us in its evolutionary path.

I am not sorry, but angry.

For I chose you, to choose me . . . choose me
. . . choose me . . . choose me . . . choose me.

Very nicely done, Sara! I like the repetition at the end. It can have different levels of meaning.
