One night

While lying under

A sky of lonely stars

I dreamt something

I’d never seen in a dream before

Once upon a midnight time

Oh how it seems so long ago

On a cool may night

Only three years ago

Something was different

This was no ordinary night

There was a chill climbing up my spine

Just brushing it aside

I fell asleep not thinking

What might come my way?

There was soon a rustle in the bushes

Not that far off

A million things

Racing through my mind

Was this to be the end for me?

Or was it only the beginning

Out of the shadows walked a dog

A dog of black and tan

I knew to be dead

Appeared before my eyes

Bringing joy and agony

As I started to cry

He came and comforted me

Just as he always had

I’d been waiting to

See him again

Was he bringing a message?

Or was it really just a dream

Either way

I’ll never forget

My midnight dream

I think he was bringing comfort, for your pains, that only he could understand. Beautiful picture. Thank you for sharing this one.

Simply marvelous I think Alexandra. The word Midnight in this poem for me serves a severe purpose and is what make the poem good. Midnight being your last name, your deceased dog's name and in this case the brink of death or just of something new.

Your spirit was open for his spirit, and he knew that you were in need of his comfort. Accept what is, and let go of what isn't...Just take it as a blessing from a spirit that once was with you. It is a beautiful thing!
Much peace, love, and light

Perhaps he was there as a shared comfort. He to comfort you and you to comfort him. God does work in strange ways....

Be always safe,

See him again

I think he was there to comfort you, Alexandra. Our furry friends somehow live on, in our hearts and souls. I still get visits from my dear cat, Buddy, and I swear I sometimes hear him calling me.

THE DREAM WAS SO TOUCHING AND COMFORTING AND YOU DESCRIBED IT WELL WITH VERY GOOD PHRASES AND IMAGERY. THANKS FOR SHARING AND BLESSINGS.
