I had called the priest the day I got sick,

Dad had told me a visit to the infirmary

Would ease the cramps and the hurricanes

In my head, but the visit couldn’t guard from

The anopheles bites, their nets were but jokes,

The plant leaves I was told to burnt got the

Insects laugh at the folly, I wish it wasn’t a jest

But I hate to blame if nothing deserved praises,

My old fathers remained here, if only they had

Migrated and elaborated, some have said to me

Dad cautioned me, ‘look at testimonies dad’

I had said, the insects would be marching to

Their suicidal ends, now at least they can

Sip their meals in their peace, because I will

Always be here, one day I will evolved, but

What plight need I see? The tropics and savannah

Would not serve the lion with hair shaped, the sheet

Above scotched by my hands, I would have more ulcers

On the skin, but look! I know how to climb trees.

Could evolution mean I could fly? Smile

I’ll remain here on the last Island, AS I Die

Slowly then dawns fast live span.
