This is the 3rd of 6 works penned by my son, who is presently incarcerated. I am submitting them because a Den Buddy enjoyed his first work, posted on AD in August, so much she requested to read more. Enjoy

They either like...or hate me

This is not misunderstanding

But ignorance

Yet, because of my love for all things...

Not at any time...but the right time

Not at any place...but the right place

I would give my life

...For even my enemies

My mother told me, "if they know you, they will like you; if they don't, it dosent matter."
The flow in your poem is excellent.

"...because of my love for all things..." is the heart of the message, the inner truth Asa has discovered and once discovered never leaves.

Parts of this make me think of Jesus and his sacrificing His life so that we may have eternal life. This is a profound piece that says so much more than any of us can begin to understand, I think.

To look beyond and see the inner person is sometimes hard to do. If a person can get past the outer being and look into the soul , they can learn much ! There is a lot to think about in this poem written with wisdom and compassion! ....M
