There's this tree

Look what that tree is doing against all odds...

There’s this tree…

By: Victoria Huggins Peurifoy © May 2008

There was a stone, a really big stone, almost like a mountain.  It sat in the middle of the sea between the sky and the fluffy clouds.  There’s this tree, a real evergreen, Christmas type tree, a tree that grows in the middle of the stone with no foliage around it.  Imagine that, in spite of all odds, it grows at least 10 feet tall.

If that tree can grow in a place so obscure, grow in a place where you would least expect it to flourish, what is stopping those of us who have to

·       Reach beyond the break…to keeping reaching

·       Reach beyond the toils and struggles…they are there to test your faith

·       Reach beyond the anguish and pain…be anxious for nothing says the Lord

·       Reach beyond the nonsense that we deal with everyday…don’t sweat the small stuff.

Think about it, we can be just like that tree which can be seen as life, hope and determination.  We can bring the light of Can Do, to become 10 feet tall…not in literal height, but in stamina, endurance, and belief in our possibilities.

There’s this tree growing in the middle of a stone, a mono lift if you will; with the sea all around it – royal blue water and cotton ball clouds in the baby blue sky giving us hope, determination, life and possibilities.

There’s this tree…

I enjoyed "There's this tree." It reminds me of the time I came upon a yellow daisy growing all alone through a crack in a busy sidewalk. I took a snapshot of it and put together a few words and gave it to our little local paper. I was sure it would be printed, because as your tree, well it was as your tree! But, it didn't get published. However, a few years later my husband and I found ourselves part owner in the paper that came after the one that did not print the flower photo. I went out of my way to publish ones that came with what they considered "special" articles or photos, often spending much time proofing to make the author or photographer look good. I can see that little tree, the wind blowing it, the clouds sailing by...good job.
