As governments try to ramp up their fear and panic campaign over the relitively mild Swine Flue virus to distract us from other things it seems a good time to revive this oldie.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I got the idea for this from hearing the old Peter Sellers & Sophia Loren record Goodness Gracious Me - on hospital radio.

Doctor I’m in trouble
I think I might not last
I work too hard, I’m full of stress
My heart beats much too fast.

The pills you gave me doctor,
Have slowed me down you know.
But they have worked rather too well
I’ve lost my get up and go.

 No doctor, you don’t understand,
I’m not suffering from depression
When I say I’ve lost my get up and go
It’s my GET UP that has gone.

Since you put me on Viagra doc,
My erection will not go down
And people point and stare and laugh
I cannot walk round town.

 These problems I have, Doctor,
should not be hard to tackle
But all you do is give me tablets
So when I move I rattle

 All you need is something
That will help you to relax
Take these capsules twice a day
And you’ll have no more attacks

I see, no wonder you’re depressed.
Impotence can make you feel low
I’ll prescribe you some Viagra
To revitalise your libido

It could be, perhaps, your problems,
Have made you quite depressed.
You must try to think more positively,
Prozac will do the rest

Oh dear, oh dear, I do agree,
You really are quite ill,
But there’s no need to worry,
Just take a daily pill.

And if you should go to hospital
There are so many forms to fill in
So to be of the safe side,
I’ll prescribe some penecillin

I appreciate your satirical (and meaningful) sense of humour, Ian. Love and peace to you,

Regis
