always been intrigued by crows and shape shifting...

As The Crow Flies

When night air smells of burning ozone

Hints of the open gates of sin’s own time

While jagged scars of lighting doth strike

Remember I once claimed thee to be mine

When thou hear a shape-shifted raven

Clinging to the branch of a dead oak tree

Ebon black soul screeching your spirit name

Calling come, come quick, and be with me

While black spells and demonic potions

Simmer in broth to suit even Dante’s taste

Come my Mistress, leave thy bonds and fly

For there is so little time left for us to waste

Morning sun will bring death to our pairing

That we willingly bartered our souls to share

Return, return to thy mortal shrine of sanity

But know…when thou hear the raven

…once more thou shalt hasten to be here!

One of very few poems centering around a Raven I've actually enjoyed. I'm usually disappointed because there's too close a resemblence to Poe's poem. This write is unique and deliciously dark. Great work, Fee.

OOOOOOOOOOoooooo.... and more Ooooooooo... This one took me by surprise, Felix, as I had in my head the lyric from the love song: "As the crow flies, Baby, I ain't so very far from you..." and my goodness, you do Dark so very well. The thing with your writing is that you are gifted at the capture of both intensity and feeling, whatever genre you write in, giving acute veracity to your words... So if I say this is chilling... THIS IS CHILLING! And very, very effective. And you're right: crows can be pretty harrowing and haunting creatures, seemingly invested with uncanny powers of knowingness. Another fine creation into the melting pot this evening. Bless you, stay warm! :)) xx
