First thing I've written in a long time. Came out of nowhere, too.
--------------------------------

Draped bonelessly over the couch
Liquid confined within skin
Her tailtip twitching intermittently--
The only sign of animation in the small form

Streams of light filter through the window
Illuminating a few airborne motes,
Giving her fur a slight sheen,
Making the gray hairs seem more sparse
I rise carefully, reluctant to disturb her

Tranquil torpid kitty bliss

She hears me and looks up
Half-lidded milky eyes gazing straight through me
Whiskers bristled, searching

I smile, reaching out to scritch her ear
Until she dozes; then I turn away,
My own vision blurring

I love the way you weave this tale and then the last line is a knock out! Excellent! JC
