What is it about me?

That allows your desires to supersede my own

I tend to be overly concerned about your emotions

To the point that I suppress my own

I can clamp up like a turtle and hide within my shell

Just to make sure that everybody else is okay

What is it about me?

That I will ignore my needs to fulfill yours

Am I not important to me?

Do my feelings matter?

Of course after I’ve considered yours

Disappointment is the only outcome

Because my friendly gestures are not good enough

What is it about me?

That my happiness comes with a cost that leaves me in debt in the end

The relationships I form keep me bond

I’m drawn to those who feed into my weakness

And in my attempt to control it, I avoid them and shut them out

What is it about me?

That I write instead of talk

Using the pen to communicate, when paper never gives a reply or rebuttal

You matter, you always have... you always will!

To know thyself is to deny Him that created you... to lose yourself is to find Him... to deny thyself is to surrender to His Will... what pleases Him will then please you... and what offends Him will offend you. May your pursuit be filled with joy and love.

i do most of this too for a good friend, and no regrets. Life is to be shared.

well written ... i wonder, perhaps the paper does reply when we reflect upon it words and ideas ...

You do matter to others but most importantly to yourself first. Do something nice for you just you at least once a week and you'll see. Even if its something small. HUgs and hang tough.

You may believe this or not, Jeffenise; but your words are as though they were my own because I do this all the time as well. I can completely relate. Your words and the emotions that they have awakened affect me deeply. Thank you for sharing. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis
