The politicians and academics of "climate science" are screaming about saving the planet. How are they going to do this you might well ask? Through the magical intervention of their god Mathematics.

Statistics, graphs and hockey sticks
combined to make a case
that the human race are laying waste
the planet that is our home.
Rome
was not built in a day,
nor did it disintegrate overnight.
So might it be with civilization,
a gradual degeneration
of all good things we have built.
Life copies art a wise man said
but when science led it tried to go
to places where
life could not, would not follow.
The hollowed egg, the hybrid embryo,
the throwaway technology.

A clone, an unthinking automaton
the epitome of human development?

Do you need GM bananas
grown by robot farmers?

Do you need the latest gadget
in order to gauge your status?

Can you only find self esteem
in buying a machine;
can materialism liberate us?

Is the graph your holy writ?
do you pray to the hockey stick?
or do you dare speak out in defiance
of the gods of growth and profit,
The hierpohants of dismal science,
dare you to defend inactivity,
by taking time to simply be,
with not a hockey stick in sight

Here's irony;
While the priests of orthodoxy
claim their graph is blessed,
while they call for cap and trade,
strict controls and higher taxes,
lay the blame for catastrophe
solely on human profligacy while
science works to increase fertility,
eradicate disease, promote longevity.

More people needing more food,
clearing more forest,
burning more resources,
making more and still more people
to consume and devour.

The process keeps accelerating
as leaders sit debating, pontificating,
speculating, bloviating,
postulating theories, ideologies
learned in elitist, oligarchic colleges
but never, never ever,
never ever, ever, ever
setting foot on firm reality.

This poem holds much truth. I agree with the politics.
