Her brother found her crying She was lying on her back in the middle of the bedroom floor surrounded by stacks of books... on her bed there were dozens more They spilled from her closet three were propped under her head most were torn and tattered from being read and read and read "You KNOW how much I love to read" "From this chaulkboard to that mirror like Mr. Cheese loves his mouse from the green grass to the clouds in the sky from the front to the back of this house" "But I have no more I haven't read and there's so much I want to explore I want to read a bagillion books so please, can I borrow yours?" "But where would you put them?" "I'll hang them from the ceiling I'll nail some to the door push some under the rug and never ask for more." "For by the time I've read them all I'm sure I'll be mostly grown Then I won't have to borrow yours I'll simply write my own."

How funny is this yet so clever is each line. I could just see books hanging from the ceiling and nailed to the door.. Yes Pat, you and I are akin in spirits of the adventuresome kind.. It is good to laugh.. Great reading... Sandy

i'm not sure how it got turned around in the reading but it's eliza's words 'i'll simply write my own' in actuality it will more than likely be jack ...the silent talent from his mom

Gotta love it! And I do. I love this, and I could never in a million years write something so simple, yet so very profound. Putting yourself in a child's thoughts is an awfully difficult thing to do, and to carry it off as well as you have here is nothing short of phenomenal.
