Over the next several months, I will be sharing with you my favorite poems written by my favorite poets. I do hope you enjoy them.

NOT  IN  VAIN

Emily Dickinson ( 1830- 1886)

If  I can stop one heart from breaking,

I shall not live in vain:

If I can ease one life the aching,

Or cool one pain,

Or help one fainting robin

Unto his nest again,

I shall not live in vain.

I was introduced to this poem by a student ( I still remember her name.) in my Honors English class as a new teacher.
