Thoughts about Alzheimers
Today is one of those days
when I can't remember where or when.
Thank goodness this does not happen all the time right now!
I'm losing this and misplacing that and quite frankly I'm just a little frustrated with myself.
Sometimes I think I'm going to beat Alzheimers. I guess it's mosty just hope. I'm no different from anyone else who has this so why should I have such high expectations. Perhaps it's because,I'm not one who gives up easily. I try to make the best out of what ever situations come along in life and turn things around if at all possible. Once in while I'm over come by obstacles that happen, but after a while I always seem to get back on track and can face a new day with hope and determination.
There are three of us now who have Alzheimers, my husband ,our son,Sam who is now 52 and my self. We all have short term memory loss. I'm a retired nurse and therefore the caregiver.
I do lots of research and we all try to help each other. I have tried to bring more awareness to others also.
Eating foods that are low in fat, high in antioxidents, green leafy vegetables and fish help to combat it.They say blueberries, apple juice, and green tea help. Taking B vitamins such a Vitamin B12 ,1000 mcg or more and Folic Acid 1600 mcg,Cinnamon 2000 mg and Omega 3 can help to combat this plus the medications, Namenda and Exelon or Arceipt.
There is no cure yet, only medications that can delay it. At least that gives us who have it a repreive and a chance that a break through might be found in the near future.
I honestly believe that the insecticides , growth hormones, special fertilizres, preservatives and allumiun all have something to do with many of our health issues.
If any are interested ,I can refer them to some web sites that offer information about Alzheimers.
God Bless you...Tomorrow is another day, and it will be better than today.......M

|Sorry to hear so many in your family are suffering memory loss. I wrote a book about memory loss called "Have You Seen my Ummm....memory?" It provides advice amid great humor as you can see from the cover. Some days are better than others. May there be more of the former for you all to enjoy. Miller|

|MARYGRACE, I AM SO GLAD TO KNOW THAT, ALTHOUGH YOU ARE EXPERIENCING THE SYMPTOMS OF ALZHEIMERS, GOD IS WITH YOU AND YOU CONTINUE TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO BE CAREGIVER TO YOUR HUSBAND AND TO REMEMBER TO TAKE YOUR MEDICATION AND ALSO TO GIVE HIM HIS. YOUR ARE A WALKING MIRACLE! THE INFORMATION ABOUT DIET THAT YOU HAVE BEEN ENABLED TO CONTAIN AND SHARE IS JUST WONDERFUL! THANK GOD FOR THE MEDICATION AND THANK YOU, MARYGRACE, FOR SHARING HOW YOU ARE BEING KEPT BY GOD AND HOW HE IS USING YOU MIGHTILY AS YOU TEND TO YOUR HUSBAND AND YOUR SON. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS POWERFUL, INSPIRATIONAL WORK. REMEMBER, I DO REMEMBER YOU IN MY PRAYERS AND PRAY THAT YOU STILL REMEMBER ME IN YOURS. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...

|You hang in there MG! Your writing skills offer no clue to your affliction and the very act of writing is probably amongst the best of therapies both for you and those who care about you. Patrick|
