So you’re back in court again I see

What is it for this time?

Burglary, Rape or Murder

Or some other heinous crime?

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m sure that though

Red handed you were caught

There’s some mitigating circumstance

That means it’s not your fault,

Oh you mugged that old age pensioner

Of that you’ll not deny

But your Daddy didn’t love you

And that’s the reason why,

Or your mother was a prostitute

That left you in your cot

Well maybe it’s just me

But I’ve just got to ask, “So What?”

Did the man you bludgeoned half to death

Have any part in that?

Was he somehow responsible

For your childhood perhaps?

Or are you making up excuses

So that we will set you free?

Well you better hope you fool the rest

Because you’re not fooling me,

I’ve seen your type too many times

Who blame a miss-spent youth

And the lawyers that encourage them

To manipulate the truth,

Well it wasn’t really Rape my lord

Since she did not resist

The fact her drink was laced with PCBs

They fail to mention this,

Or the fact that her assailant

Had done the same thing twice before

Of course the jury can’t be told this

Lest it’s prejudicial to the law,

Well here is my opinion

Of the laws that have been passed

As a wise man said so long ago

The law sir is an ass,

There are people stuck in prison

For non payment of fines

While murderers are walking free

With murder on their minds,

Paedophiles are told they’re ill

And therefore not to blame

They were abused as children too

And so grew up the same,

They’re given pills and counselling

And sometimes new I.Ds as well

While the victims of these monsters

Must endure a life of hell,

And they try to call this justice

Come on don’t make me laugh

Justice is for the favoured few

The rest is but a farce,

It’s which lawyer’s most convincing

The Prosecution or Defence

And as long as they’re both being paid

It doesn’t matter much to them,

So come on let’s hear your reasons

Why you mugged that poor old man

Convince the jury that you’re sorry

And remorseful if you can,

Then listen very carefully

To see if their heartstrings have been twanged

And then thank the Lord I’m not your judge

Because I would have you hanged.

I totally concur with your observations, Steve...there's not much justice in this world! Except of course for the criminals...Very well penned!
