Our house to the left of the merry go round/carousel...sorry about picture quality...u can see in the lower part what was left of the boardwalk, only the cement pilings that held it in place,,,

It came out of the northeast,

The ocean when angry can be a beast,

On Sea Isle City she did feast,

In our beachfront home she left a crease…

For three days she roared through,

Taking back to the sea hundred year old homes,

This town all I knew, the place in which I grew,

Surrounded by such devastation it scared me through & through…

In that year, I was but seven,

I thought I would never make eleven,

The wind shook our house & the ocean surrounded us,

Nowhere else to go we huddled in bed,

Praying that we made it through,

And did not end up together in heaven…

Not much of an adventure–more like a horror story you were lucky to live through. Along about 1951, we were snowbound at my grandparents farm for three days. Although we ran out of food and didn't have any winter clothing in late April, it was a big adventure for us.

Bottom line, you made it. I think it's meant to teach us "stuff." Right now, I have no idea. I am fortunate to have my girl. Love and peace,

That had to be tough on a seven-year-old. I can relate, been through many hurricanes on land and riding them out offshore. Yeah, you tend to get your priorities straight in the middle of something like these natural calamities.
