The Segmented

I am nobody, maybe I, may be you,
maybe me, may not be,
and I don’t have any name,
call me nameless, or just anon.
I arrive without any notice
and leave without any gaze,
nobody would write a book
or award a trophy to me.
I would be fooled, cheated,
tormented, and at times
I would have my small moments
to fool, cheat, and torment.
I am 20 and 75 at the same time,
it hardly matters as I would
never run for the elections;
would never possess my opinion,
whenever I would have,
it would be one of the
newspaper gossips.

I am nobody, I am a collective noun:
all the big consumer companies
target me, they put me inside
their dimensions of profits,
and then they would eat bubble and speak bubble,
and I would occupy a region
in those bubbles that swell
each time one of us gets inside.
When I don’t accept this change, I get exchanged
like currencies, only the exchange rates rise and fall.
I am often conned, but I forget
who conned me, as I have short term memory.
I am the most unoriginal innovation
in this planet as I need to copy
to prove that I have learned.
I am segmented, demented,
forecasted, and remain
the poor CONsumer.

Hey old Buddy ~ long time no see. You perceive nuances that most people couldn't even imagine and express them so eloquently.

a fine exposition, Debs, that is very comprehensive though also broken down into all its component parts. Some lovely visuals here, too, and I am left with an impression of a centipede or caterpillar bumping up and down in its bobbly stride and chewing through everything in its way... guess Alice in Wonderland therefore comes to mind with its crazed associations, too... eat me, drink me! Hope you're feeling back on top; good to see you here :)) xx

You've created a host of thoughts about the so-called, average man. Great write.
