Bones and Pages

I stand here
Looking down
At the bones of my life
Pages turned
Pages yet to be turned
I thought by now
I’d be quite dead
Never thought
I’d make it past thirty
Still . . .
There are pages yet to be turned
Dreams yet to be thought
About who I could have been
About who I am
I have tattoos
Would the other me
Have done so
I’ve walked on the wild side
Wallowed in danger's bed
Grinning all the while
These are the pages of moi
If I could live my life over
Would I chase the same
Nightmares

Oh so much more ahead! It never stops! In another lifetime you will find the familiar.

Love ya!!!

I like Janna Hill's take; observing downward. Rousing lines, "I thought by now/I'd be quite dead/" A jingle of a little astonishment.

This poem reads consistent with the philosophy of your "Love Shards", allowing the aging process to remain positive, to see that living life fully is sometimes a case of reinvention, and other times just a willingness to simply turn the coin over and accept the alternative. Would you live the same nightmares? Perhaps not, but most likely you would find new ones, given your propensity for embracing change in your life. A free verse of perplexing questions for us all to reflect on. Thank you for presenting the idea of choice living on as we age.

*Jerry* we are who we are today because
our past is ever present for the present
and future incorporated into oneness!!!

Life is so interesting as is this poem. BTW I'll be getting a tatoe done soon. Knew I would not do it until I found the right one.

I like that you "look down" indicating you are at a higher place of observation... waiting to turn the next page.

I don't suppose there's a human being alive who'd say if they could do it again they wouldn't change a thing! I know I can't say that...lots to chew on in this one, Jerry! Well done!

Jerry,

Fascinating and well written as always. I guess we never know when our time is up.

it's a fine way to reflect on yesterday's gone bye, but as your poem suggests, while we're here now, we'd best drink to marrow... here's to the meat on them bones, matey...

Jerry, we all wonder the same things, but now is the time to live. You have a second chance to live a joyful life, and you know this. Let the past go, and revel in the present...don't worry about the future it will come nothing you can do about that, but enjoy what you have in the moment and know it's so beautiful just to be alive.

Great thought provoking poetry....

Peace, love, and light,
Amber
