A poetic tribute to the romance of a lifetime

                   Anniversary
(Authored and recited by Richard Lee Orey)

                                                                       O, My Love
When my heart was beating faster
And my breath was taken away
When I was frozen in my footsteps
And all I could do was stay
When your image filled my eyes
And your presence lived in my heart
When your smile lit my fire
And I prayed we'd never part
When I heard your whispered words
And true love is what you tell
When I knew I'd lost my soul
And was living in your spell
When I knew that life was empty
And there was nothing real in view
That my days would all be wasted
Without sharing my love with you
Then I knew our moon would rise
While our sun was shining true
And my future held no meaning
Without sharing my love with you

Still others stood and preached their hearts
And wanted to win your love
I didn't know how to make my case
                                                                        Without help from up above

So I offered up my spirit
And prayed you'd see the light
That my love would show the way
Like the stars in dark of night
That your heart would beat much faster
And your breath would go away
That your footsteps would be frozen
And you'd only want to stay
That my image would fill your eyes
And my presence would live in your heart
That my smile would light your fire
And you'd pray we'd never part
That you'd hear my whispered words
And know true love is what I tell
That you'd know you'd lost your soul
And were living in my spell
That you'd know your life was empty
And there was nothing real to see
And your days would all be wasted
Without sharing your love with me
Well, now we know our moon has risen
While our sun is shining true
And our lives have had real meaning
Because you and me are two
O, in all the years we've shared our love
                                                                        There's been no other view
The only thing that really matters
Is sharing my love with you
Yes, the only thing that really matters
Is sharing my love with you.

Your poem is beautiful and a wonderful tribute to Jodi for the many years of love and companionship that you've shared. Your recitation added additional sentenmentality to the lyrics. Well done, Richard, and I hope the day is filled with joy, love, and the celebration of two loving hearts.
