Spring Baby

A poem about my daughter, born on the first day of spring, in 1983.

Full white linen moon floated across the tree tops like a cradle that was handled with care. As it rocked back and forth softly on a bed of marshmallow shaped clouds.

Wails of screams bellow in the darkness that howled like a wolf throughout the night without fail. Two hours before the morning 's light resurrected a yellow sunrise.

Spring Baby arrived on time, like a shooting dream in front of my eyes. As the clock chimed five, soon after a rooster yodeled a nursery rhyme. The March winds blew a lullaby in the air. Perch on a branch was a pair of birds singing pretty.

Bumble bees buzzed 'bout on a purple faced flower. Spring Baby's feet were placed in ink, on a sheet of paper. Springtime showers sprayed the tulips and daffodils that were on the ground. The stars wink from the sky at the sound of your sweet cry.

I blinked twice at Spring Baby and said; "You know, what is so nice?'"   "You introduced me to love and happiness. You wiped away all that was sad. And, now I have a family, I never had."

I promise to make you happy. Fore, I am sorry about your daddy.

I will be there to hold your hand as you take your first steps to crawl to walk to stand. I will catch you, when you fall. I promise to be there through it all.

I know, you'll be the first to leave the nest, for it will hurt the worst. Life is what it is, knows what is best.

I will end this poem filled with memories that find this and that  as it comes to mind.

Like, "Poppy is what you called your cat. I remember like most mother's do, my Spring Baby sucking her thumb too. And, when you first drank milk from a sippy cup.

My chocolate eyed, raven haired beauty is all grown up.

She's nineteen now, but your poem brings back vivid memories of the wonderful time of her birth.

This is absolutely enchanting! I loved the style you employed and all the lovely soft little fairytale scenes you created...
Like you I have a chocolate eyed raven haired beauty of a daughter, all grown up now, and a handsome son who was born in 1983!...plus another beautiful daughter...
We are blessed!
Hugs, Diana...
