Fantasy of a little girls mind in the winter

Winter Fantasy

Riding in a horse drawn sleigh, many years ago,
Amidst a winter wonderland, of freshly fallen snow.
My mind began to focus, on a time when I was young,
On a little girl named Sweet Pea, and her quest to have some fun.
We played beneath the branches, of a giant evergreen tree,
Making mud pies and snow ice cream, as we sipped our cups of tea.
Wintertime had us encompassed, within our own glass globe,
Shielded by snow filled branches, were two within its fold.
Playing with our dollies, as we sang our made up songs,
Dancing with each other, while winter winds sang along.
Winter days were soon over and Sweet Pea would go away,
But I knew each wintertime, she would come again to play.
A cold wet tear upon my cheek, with the jerk of a horse drawn sleigh,
Filled me with the memories, of winter fantasy of yesterday.

Captured special memories need to be released into the world like this because then, they last forever. Maybe that's why we write. Who knows?

As a general rule, old memories only get better with time, as would appear to be the case this time.

Well penned. Dick

What a wonderful poem of childhood remembrance. While I never experienced most of the things you wrote about here, I had a wonderful time whenever it snowed or we got snowed in.

While they were readily available, I never took a horse-drawn sleigh ride.
