One year ago today, Joplin, MO was hit by an EF-5 tornado. 160 souls lost their lives. Never forget those affected by the terrible storm. :(

Can't imagine being picked up,
only to be slammed down like
a ball.  Man wasn't designed to
bounce.  Can't imagine losing

everything you owned to the
roaring skies -- only by God's
grace you made it out, alive.
Many others didn't.  Can't

imagine the panic you must
have felt, wondering, worrying
if today would be the day you
died, or if your loved ones

would make it out.  Hell with
the house.  Now when the
weather gets bad, what do
you do?  What do you do?  I

can't imagine.  Prayers won't
rebuild your city or replace
what you lost, but it's all I have.
It's all I have ... can't imagine.

You capture the desolation, the fear, the anticipation of another so well. I believe you can almost imagine.

Karla..
Powerful.. and deeply understanding of the enormous trauma and loss of those in Joplin.. and of survivors everywhere.
Only by the grace of GOD, my daughters and I personally survived a No.5 tornado in 1985.. it was only 200' from our door when it touched down - and wrought desolation.

In my mind's eye, I re-live it every time a bad storm strikes.. or whenever I see the devastating effects on a news show. I always go straight to my knees in prayer for anyone in its path.. no matter what manner the destroyer comes as..

Speaking of which.. I'd like to personally Thank You as a Desert Storm Vet for your faithful service to GOD & Mankind, Karla.
I truly value & appreciate you... I honor you.

Love, Gratitude & Blessings, Rhonda

Karla, your poem is a sensitive link to those who endured and survived the tornado in Joplin, and to those that did not - those in tornado alley are a special lot, filled with tenacity and personal resolve - your tribute and remembrance of their grief is commendable my dear friend - I wish you love and peace - Jon Michael

Your poem conveys the heart wrenching thoughts that we all have when we see what some people have endured and lost in a terrible storm like this. The fact is, most of those folks pick themselves up with nothing and start over. It is a testimony to Americans' resilience.

Thanks for the reminder of those still trying to rebuild their lives. We often get too caught up in our own day-to-day struggles and forget that there are others with far more need.

I can't imagine either; don't even want to try. Sobering reminder of what happened one year ago today! Well penned, Karla!
