What to prepare for supper tonight
Perhaps some exotic bird
Served with a fine spirit Merlot would be nice
A side of asparagus over wild rice
With just the right blend of salt pepper and spice
Palatable joy assured!
Menu in mind I get in the car
This meal has become my quest
I hit ev'ry red light along the way to
The grocery store then I fin'ly get through
A traffic jam yet now my thinking's askew
It seems I have lost my zest!
Inside the store I'm pushing the cart
Which has one loud squeaky wheel
My head now is pounding a child starts to whine
A box of white zinfandel suits my needs fine
Rotisserie chicken store's oven not mine
Screw plans of that fancy meal!
Sounds like a winner after all. Do that fancy-smancy dinner when your got-up is still with you and hasn't let you down. Merlot. I'd substitute burgundy, but then I'm a fiend for cheap California burgundy.
