“I’m like a shooting star,

I’ve come so far;

I can’t go back,

To where I used to be.”

From Disney’s Aladdin,

A Whole New World

Homeless, his entire life

He was always on the run

He only knew man’s cruelty

But now, those days are done

He discovered the joy of having ‘stuff’

He now loves his cozy little dog house

Recently, he’s begun playing with toys

A rabbit, a duck, and a squeaky mouse

And I laughed so hard when he grabbed it

He decided he wanted my camping pillow

He also drags around his favorite ‘blankie’

A whole new way of life now, for Shadow

He also decided that he likes being petted

Wearing a collar now, provides him security

My dogs all like him, and he likes all of them

It’s been quite a journey, for Shadow and for me

Just yesterday, he decided that it was now finally time

To join the rest of his canine brethren in our backyard

A whole new world, is now waiting for him out there

He is leaving his past, which was so lonely and hard

I sometimes had my doubts along his difficult journey

But patience, understanding, and kindness, usually win

The once feral, fearful, distrusting, doubting, dog is gone

A brand new Shadow has emerged, his new life now begins

“A whole new world,

That’s where I’ll be;

A wondrous place,

For you and for me.”

It is your love my dear Mr. Ed that tamed him, for you are full of love and are a blessing to all of them. Therefore it is returned in kind to this wonderful man. How you always touch me with your devoted love to them all.

How comforting that Shadow is right at home!
Pets must be put here on this earth for man to enjoy!
They give unconditional love like no one can.
Are they angels?
Perhaps not but they treat us so much better than other species.
Sorry folks, when it comes to true friendship, human beings just cannot compete with dogs and cats!
Amen

what strikes me here, Ed, in the photo
is the light in Shadow's eyes and the relaxation;
he is alive for the first time in his life..joyous
is the word, joyous
angel of mercy you are and you have just reward
and we do, too

Ed, so heart warming and "real"...I love your humanity and your wonderful spirit of giving of yourself unconditionally to these creatures that need someone to nurture them. Shadow is one lucky dog for sure. He's absolutely adorable and very lucky to have you.

Much peace, love and light,
