Geese on Bayou Lafourche

So many geese I couldn't count them,
But one and all, they're all gems.
A brilliant blue sky up above,
It brings to mind eternal love.
This is the spring-time of the year,
Everything's blooming, not austere.
Such a minor thing to behold,
But it is as precious as gold.
I will remember this for years,
And each time I do I'll say cheers!

I have a rock with a saying etched into it: "Nature never did betray the heart that loved her." 'Must have had you in mind!

Amen! There's a lake right in the middle of our city and we're about two minutes walk from it...every year we hear the honking as the geese return for the summer...and it's an awesome thing to behold!

Around the turn of the last century, many geese and ducks were in peril from overhunting and nest raiding. A group of hunters formed Ducks Unlimited and they brought back most of the species. Where my brother lives in Elkhart Indiana, the St. Joseph River is overrun with geese. They can be quite a nuisance, but as your poem so beautifully describes, in flight they are a force of nature.

It is magnificent Jerry, so beautiful and to be blessed to enjoy such beauty is often beyond what words can say.

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful sight with us, I so love nature and all her creatures.

Another touch of nature few absorb as sound and picture designed to sooth. As you say, austere is given a break, a breath of fresh sustenance. Subtle, but important reminder. Thank you.
