MY BED!
Ah, my lovely bed!
Such a brief time spent within its warm embrace
Coupled with duvet and a pillow soft
And scented lavender on my face.
Ooh, wonderful bed!
To stretch my legs and lay upon my side
Hugging covers round my neck
Snug and warm and satisfied.
Too often, when the mind is full
And evenings steal away the time
When TV or the phone-calls pull
Then steps to bed seem hard to climb
No matter, since with every yawn
Compelling heavy eyelids close
My bed, my sanctuary until dawn
Promises peaceful night’s repose
And so to bed!
In foetal position curled up tight
Within the wee hours of the night
Then all too soon dreams have to end
When my alarm becomes more foe than friend!
