Inhale, you draw me in… hold it, I remain with you… exhale, you approach me… holding it we become one… ~Lily of Lough Neagh~

 Droplets of Breath

Feel the exchange of our perfumed breath
Expelling our air to each other attest
Nary to hide what is known from within
Droplets of breath to familiar kindred

We are the rhythm of heart beats as one
Softly together in unison become
Sharing a vision and landscape of dreams
Lasting forever as much as that seems

We whisper the words that only we hear
For mist to the others and it disappears
Rise like the stars in cool summer night
Never to fade under bright of moon light

Light of our fire it doth touch the soul
Sweet words in which we are tethered behold
Knowing and feeling that rightly it be
All of the heart for it’s been centuries

Droplets of breath on the wind we send thee
Whispers of voices like song of the trees
Unwrapping treasures of unspoken word
For nary for others will be ever heard

Droplets of breath to be wholly consumed
Wrapped warmly and sweetly in each other’s hue
Touching two souls through the mist of the dew
Bringing together foreverness grew

For sweetest of rose that you are on the vine
Holding breaths droplets on petals divine
Softly envelop they nourish and twine
All of breaths droplets as sweetly as wine

As gently as autumn’s leaves scurry on in
A pleasant breeze with breaths droplets begin
As perfumed and fragrant of the tender rose
Something that you and I only behold

This is just wonderful Lily and gives me a picture of Gone With the Wind, my husband and I loved that movie. We held hands and necked in the movie theater I will never forget it. He was my Clark Gable, and I was his Scarlett giggle. I miss him, but what a wonderful movie I see in this

"Lasting forever as much as that seems" - very wise. Great fullness in this poem. ~~ Diana

Lilly you have a remarkable way of writing. You are a very gifted writer putting into words the tenderness of romance and love. Everything you write is just beautiful and felt so deeply. I often read what you write to my girlfriend (who loves your poems too) but recite it to her with the deepest of love from me to her. You know what love is, what true love is. KEEP WRITING!

It starts already with the quote, an excellent prelude for this beautiful fugue about two lovers.
Two souls who melt together in oneness, so pure and so romantic.
To reach it's full depth with the last sentence
"Something that you and I only behold"

Really fantastic Carolee

Having experienced it, there's nothing so intimate as when two exchange whispered words so close that their breaths mingle. Just a shame that so many allow tooth decay and bad eating habits to ruin the experience and lose the intimacy you have so elegantly described.

Your passion is apparent here, Carol, and the style you write your poems in is exquisite. Old school and very, very romantic. Don't stop. I know you won't. To be as close to one another as this poem touches on is to completely and totally be in love, and it only works if both can inhale the others undivided love and affection. That is love. Pure love.

All I can say Lily is this takes my breath away, just like the song of two lovers. Very beautiful
