My Hope is You
(Authored and Recited by Richard Lee Orey)
I sit alone amid chaos and struggle
Thinking of nothing but you...
Your face, your smile, your sparkling eyes so full of life
And I ask myself, Why can't we meet?
Strange things happen in our modern online world
Soley by accident you entered my mind and heart.
I didn't know I had surfed into a MeetMe site
And before I knew it, your picture flashed onto the screen.
You were there but for a moment and you were gone.
Yet In that brief interval, your image burned
Indelibly into my mind
An image that shimmers and glows and pulls at my heartstrings
And leaves me sitting alone thinking of nothing but you--
You and me and what could be
Chemistry stirs my soul and begs a coming together
Even as such instant attraction remains unexplained.
O, Life is so unfair, I complain to none who listen
Until I'm shocked with what I perceive as a gift from God:
Your Image is back!
A name appears and a link to click
Fighting the pounding beat of my heart
Hands quivering with unbridled passion
My life is storming back like the flowering blooms
That follow a Springtime shower
Your user name appears, and I catch my breath
My Hope is You is what it says
And I know that somehow you know I'm here
Waiting for you, yearning for you, begging for you--
You and me and what can be.
Yes, it's true : My Hope is You
I write the words: Hi There
And in a flash comes back your message:
O, somehow I knew you'd be there for me
Can we meet?
In a flurry, messages fly back and forth
And suddenly I understand that life is not really unfair
It's all there in this world waiting for us--
Riches and abundance and love and fulfillment
All we need is faith
And the will to say the words:
My Hope is You.
Tonight, we sleep clinging one to the other,
Whispering the mantra of lovers
Since time began:
My Hope is You.
