I'm sorry,

add my name to the list
of apologizers --
the people who see
what we have done
to you
your places, your balance, your resources,
your sentient elders, your babies
shot them
shooting them
one by one
like they are big game
conquests named 'convenience,'
like they have rabies
when they do not
we only wanted their antlers
we forgot
the word 'belong,'
or mistook that to mean
'to me.'

I'm sorry.

So much distruction it hurts big time...and so many don't see it!

If we could only repopulate the globe with these words written on countless numbers of leaves so that dear Earth could BREATHE again perhaps, Joni Mitchell-like, we could "get ourselves back to The Garden"... What else can we say when so much needs to be done not only to stem the tide but reverse it? Mia culpa. xx

We have done so much in the name of progress and I am afraid it may be too little too late unless we all find a way to apologize and stop our evil ways. What an excellent write, Diana...always impressive work.

Destruction must not be humanity's only legacy. Add my name to the list too, would you please? A wonderful lesson for us all to be reminded of and so clever of you to bring it using yourself as an example. Be well, Kathy

My sentiments, exactly! We have to stop the killing and destruction of habitat just because we can. We need to get more in touch with our mother Earth before she retaliates and kicks us off for being bad.

Thank you, Odin. Certainly not wrong. And, given our present nation-wide thermometer climb. . . in lieu of deep freeze, it may be more of a roast perhaps? Thanks for reading. ~~ Diana

Oh, such a mandate for aggression to pay attention. That which is not ours is not ours. Life in particular. Yet... under the quise of a conspiratorial "do good" minions continue to rape and pillage int he name of "it's for the better good." We better start asking "better good of who, MF?" "Me, me," seems to be a dysfunctional malady of the species that will take another deep freeze of the earth to wake up. Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. But... are you wrong? I think not.
