I wrote this when the boys were very young. Granada war when Ronald Reagan was President.
At the time I was overwhelmed with grief for mother’s who had or would lose their sons & daughters. I saw my sons scattered across my bed, picked up a pen and paper and wrote, thankful my boys were with me. |

My Heart aches
For mothers who wait
For a word
From their sons
So far away
Some mothers will pick up the phone and hear
"Hi, Mom"
But others will hear
"God be with them"
A knock at the door
My three sons
Are scattered across my bed
A picture of contentment, for now
Yet a day may come
That I wait too
So God please help me to be thankful for
Each day I have to say
"I love you, son"

| I know that prayer for our children!! I so deeply feel your compassionate heart and love for your children through these words. |

| Bless you for the precious awareness of the fact that nothing is guaranteed but to be appreciated as fully as possible and cherished. Your compassion for others and the depth of your awareness of the precious gift you had even back then when raising three sons might have been pretty tough as well as rewarding, speaks well of the person I feel you must be. Be well, Kathy |
