Only a Right for Some

I'd like to start a family

But I am just denied

I'm am not allowed

Due to the all American pride

The typical American family

May not be what I'll start

But my family will have love

My children will be smart

But I am just denied

Due to the all American pride

And if we ask "how come?"

They say, "It's only a right for some"

My children will go to school

They will learn their ABC's

Or will they only be ridiculed?

The conservative person agrees

My spouse will go to work

And he'll earn his honest living

Our children will be spoiled

Because we are always giving

 But I am just dismissed

Because America is pissed

And if we ask "how come"

They  say "it's only a right for some"

 Our Children will be adopted

But treated like our blood

We'll all be loving and honest

And that way no one can throw mud

 We will raise them well

And teach them right from wrong

I'll tell them how it should be

And how everyone does belong

 But we are just prohibited

Because we're not perfect as exhibited

And if we ask "how come"

They say "it's only a right for some"

 We live like everyone else

We can be perfect or we can be sleazy

We only want the same chance

That you guys get so easy

 The times have changed

And so should the people

I can't understand how

This concept isn’t considered evil

 But we are just rejected

Because we are not "perfected"

And when we ask "how come"

They say "it's only a right for some"

So maybe if we stop to think

And except things as they are

We can have the true peace we want

And our freedom can grow far

To get married is my dream

And to start a family is my ambition

And maybe I can have these things

With America's permission.

But I am just forbidden

The reason why remains hidden

And if I ask "how come"

They say, "because it's only a right for some”

Given time, all wrongs will be righted. In the meantime, everyone will just have to try to understand from other viewpoints what it will take to live in the twenty first century.

Hmnn...maybe you should consider moving North where it is legal... and we welcome diversity.
