A Prayer

I am not a praying man, but if I were . . .

with head held high
thoughts and projections without fear
thoughts are forever free
splintered and miles apart philosophies
blood-splattered domestic war zones
words still have the ring of truth
we reach out, tirelessly, towards excellence
the unique flow of sanity has not lost its raison d'être
in the dreariness of the night
our thoughts and prayers are to thee
in our ever-expanding notions and exploits
into all that we are
please let my country awake before its too late

I add a hearty amen to your poem! I pray nightly for the same thing; America PLEASE wake up... now! Wonderful, thought provoking words, Jerry.

Amen, Jerry. We all need to keep praying and let God know we want Him in our lives in spite of what many say and how they try to push Him away. We need to raise our voices together, and I thank you for you effort. For one who is not a praying man, you do pritty good! Be well, Kathy

And join the rest of the world in peace and understanding.

I'll say, “ Ah... men,” to that.

...ahhh... but by the looks of this pensive poem, you could be, Jerry... you definitely could be... and we'd all be richer for it, should you choose to embrace the faith...

't would be a consummation devoutly to be wished for... indeed.

I did not expect you to be a praying man
But you can always pray as long as it is sincere
Even a single sigh can be a pray already and say much more than a thousand words

Good write Jerry

A wonderful prayer Jerry
so well done if you were a praying man...
I am a praying woman, although not
religious as in religion, do know the
greater God/Spirit who is above and hears
all of us... maybe not answered in our time
but His/Spirit's and only for the higher good

Excellent Jerry so well done
