First you will think you are dreaming
though you are awakening from the darkness
you created to keep you from the light you are.
And you will not know whether to immerse yourself
in the mirage your hellish life had become or
run far from it.

But you will find another way, a way that
opens into yet another way and slowly you will
wrap your arms around this day and all the fragments
that remind you of the truth you shattered when light
first pierced your consciousness and you first saw
your soul shine forth.

      Should you meet fear again
as you did that day . . .

Let the flicker of remembrance carry you,
my love. Allow it to warm you, and dare to see
your light in the shadow I became for you. In the fire's
glow, breathe your soul back to life and glimpse newfound
possibility. Let each breath become a prayer
rising from ash.

You will grow stronger, heart of my heart,
as you allow the knowing to stir from within and
become a sacred flame unafraid to burn all that holds
you to false self. You will not be lost! What is consumed
shall transcend false form, and all that's true
remain intact.

      Should you meet love again
as you did that day . . .

Forgive its seeming intrusion and trust it.
Let it wash over you, knowing your flame cannot
be extinguished by its unexpected flow through you.
Neither doubt the goodness of which you are more than
deserving. Let it enfold you in layers of light, a
mantle of grace.

You will survive Love's second coming as you
have endured all that seemed a crucifixion. Surrendered
to a world emergent, changing all you thought you knew,
you will be baptized in waters of forgiveness, in need
of nothing more to make you whole, and find a friend
at river's edge.

This poem brought tears to my eyes as I contemplated on thoughts of one of my daughters who recently walked out on our family... deciding that she, at age 18, knew more of life and love and truth than we do. I hope that someday she will see a light that pierces the darkness she is surrounding herself with and that she will allow honesty into her life and let it heal her soul.

I second the notion that this poem is very uplifting. I too, shall wait at the waters edge.

An incredibly spirit lifting poem! Iíve seen a great message in the final verse! Hopefully we all will find that friend at the water's edge! Blessings to you, Dawn!
