Believing there is always
Room for improvement,
I cast my chary eye
Upon myself
And quietly ask
If I can change
Yet again.
My life is already better
Than it was
In years past;
Gone
Are the debilitating,
All-consuming,
And self-destructive
Mood swings,
Replaced
By "normal" moods
That seldom vary
More than
A few degrees
Above or below
The mean.
But...
I am still not satisfied
For there is so much
Of life
I have yet
To experience,
Achieving milestones
Others I have known
Have taken for granted.
I dream of
Finishing college,
Of building a career,
Of making a difference
In someone's life;
I want to go
Out on a date
With a man
Who sets my heart
Afire,
Not one who looks at me
As if he found me
On the bottom
Of his shoe.
I want to know
That I belong somewhere,
That I fit in,
That I am accepted;
And, oh!
How I wish
I could fully share of myself
With no fear
Of shame.
It will take as yet
Untapped courage
To open myself up
To the possibilities
That life has to offer.
So I search deep within myself
And I ask,
Do I have it in me
To try?

Great work Rebecca, and it speaks to the truth, the fear, I believe, that is in all of us.
Continued success~

You have it in you according to how bad you want these things to happen for you. I can't say, "I know where you're coming from," because, quite frankly, I don't know where you are coming from. Still Rebecca, you are on the right tract, and I will warn you when you feel it is time to test these new feelings that there are those you can meet who like to play game with someone such as yourself. As difficult as it might be, hold back, be careful, or if you just have to experience a life you haven't experienced before, jump in with both feet. Emotions are strange creatures, they can put you on top of the world and they can crash and burn you to the ground . . .
