Life's Sonnet #73 – Give Love a Chance

Don't fight with love, please allow it some space,
It's a broad open monument you see.
So treat love kindly and do not deface,
You must allow it to grow; that's the key.
And for Heaven's sake, don't set any goals,
And allow love to give gifts unto you.
It will, oh yes it will, like some lost scroll,
Don't try to shape it into something new.
Love is like good wine; it ages slowly,
Savoring the best, discarding the bad,
Take it from one who knows, that would be me,
Love will then envelop your heart with glad.
Heed my words, or your sweet love will be lost,
Please, just let it bloom at most any cost.

Just very good thoughts here, Jerry. Too many let jealousy get in the way.

A love sonnet of life's most intimate feeling, love! Oh Jerry, love is the best feeling in the world, but we must all love ourself first, then being loved and loving comes naturally without conditions or restraints. When I love it's forever no matter what, just ask all my ex lovers! (not really too many, lol)
Anyway, this is a fabulously written poem with an important message.

Much peace, love and light,
Amber

I really enjoyed this sonnet, and especially appreciated the closing rhymed couplet. Strong close to a quite a good poem.

I read that we try to make someone into something we think they should be so that we love them. Which I would agree is not going to work. great poem cheers!

Love is a most fulfilling emotion
Love can bloom into the most beautiful flower
One that can out adorn any arrangement made
by a florist...

Love like a flower blooms and grows, however...
it does not die, even after the body is gone...
Love will last an eternity if it is tended to
nourished and cared for and well protected from
harming elements...

Beautiful sonnet Jerry

You have written such lovely words of wisdom. True love needs a lot of room to grow, should not be boxed in with demands and needs to be watered daily with tender nuturing. Good one, Jerry.

That is beautiful! I, after a horrendous marriage, had walls built up so high.....I believe they're still there. This is great advice to be taken to heart.

Love ya!

Love is the best part of everyday
be it in the eyes of a partner
or the songs of the wind
or through the joy of a child's laugh
or any other psalmic treasures of the soul...

There are many words in this poem that doesn't go together with LOVE (fight, deface, goals, shape it).
When love is real love, there is no room for negative things. Only good, positive and unconditional things will remain.

To give love a chance is a very good advice Jerry
