Dear Lord, I come to You on bended knee today;
I come to You because I feel a need to pray.
I pray that You give me patience with my children;
And I pray that harm or injustice will not befall them.
They are disabled, and they don't often understand
Why they must endure life's cruel and uncaring hand.
They know they are disabled, but society does not;
And they are so often teased or picked on a lot.
People don't know what it's like to use a wheelchair;
And they act like they aren't human or give a care.
They are just children, and they deserve a chance;
They deserve to laugh, sing, play, or even dance!
So what if they are different; it doesn't matter to me;
They are my kids, and..they deserve some dignity!
Some are dying, they are so sick; still, they go on,
And despite their problems, they still carry on!
And some have faced such incredible odds,
Their survival is only because of You, my Lord God.
They are disabled, but You love them all so much;
There are many people whose lives they've touched!
You are using them in a very special, heartfelt way;
And the joy I feel for my kids makes me cry today!
What did I do to deserve these little special brood?
They have forever brightened my world & my mood!
So give my kids wisdom, peace, joy, and hope;
For they are the reason why we enjoy life and cope!
In Your Most Precious Holy Name,
I pray..Amen and Amen!

|This is so touching, Karen. I have 2 special-needs grandchildren. Aaron didn't learn to talk or to walk alone till he was 5, but God really touches hearts through him!
