Savagely Soothing

A fog enshrouded morning
Encasing trees in a wintry frost
Creating a canopy of white feathery ice
Rendering the sky invisible
A bitterly cold northern zephyr
Blows mist and ice across the landscape
Limbs moan with its passing
The icy vapor kisses my face
Just mere seconds before it dissipates
A frigid yet invigorating caress
Filling the senses
Awaking the soul
Revitalizing the mind
The wind becomes a lullaby
Its savage grip comforts me
Reminding me of the honesty of life
While calming my fears
Simultaneously strengthening my resolve
The melody seizes me within its clutches
Quieting the rampant thoughts inside my mind
Until I acquiesce to the soothing harmony
And I’m engulfed in a refreshing repose
