A Short scenario of political environments around the globe.

Rats in the Cellar

In another time and place

Everyone was running—

All together keeping pace

With the economic roll.

While rats in the cellar

Played and toyed with all,

Secretly planning their way

Of survival in a world—imperfect.

They raise themselves monetarily

They double dip the system,

Gov’ pension and retirement too—

It all slips in their pockets.

Free medical and dental care

But nothing for the pawns—

The people of the land,

Who have, in government—no hand?

Ah!  A lawyer I shall be

When I grow to puberty,

I shall chisel all the money

And pry open the coffers.

I shall become president

And, maybe a senator or

Congressman too – maybe a

Governor so I could learn the ropes.

Of caring for the land and people

Giving them false dreams and hopes,

Because little do they know

That college taught me well.

Well enough to make—

The ropes pull, twist and snap,

Carrying all the economical finds

Back into my pocket--full.

I will fight to remain in position

And I will fight to make a draw

And I will side with no one special

For we are the rats in the cellar—all.

What are they really doing for us. not much it seems. High gas prices, high medical costs, I now have to pay for prescriptions I need and had no co pay on. Turned me over to another pharmacy consultant without my permission, to get the money out of me. Had to drop some and go with the really needed ones. Are they helping us? NOt that I can see. When will things change. Maybe never so we might as well get used to it. It is a cruel stingy world of men out there and some are governing our country to no avail but to fill their pockets well.

William,
I would say this is a very accurate scenerio of the world political situation and even kinder than I suspect it really is. A very good write and made me glad I stopped by to view your work! I look forward to doing more reading while I am here.

Cute. I don't believe all politicians are venal and self serving, but certainly many are. Interesting write here.
