My eyes change color even though they are brown my neice says my eyes are black if you ask her. They definitely are the universal language and can tell you Everything! Good story Very good story about each minute of today. Love Tracey

The Slingshot (Short Story) - 1/24/2005 10:45:18 PM
I really enjyed this story You remember alot of your childhood. Sling shots were a thing to have for sure. I was never any good at them thank good ness cuz I sure wouldn't want a whoopin' like you got. But glad you saw how dangerous they are. We don't see that then, they're just a toy. Good story of your childhood with a Great message in there for the kids and adults that 'play', too. Love Tracey

Most Embarrassing Moment (Short Story) - 11/12/2003 6:36:05 PM
Jack: At least you can write about YOUR most embarrassing moment. I can't--it's just too damn embarrassing. I'm turning red just thinking about it. Hey, you write humor too! Great story. I enjoyed this one also.

The Slingshot (Short Story) - 11/12/2003 6:29:36 PM
Jack: I remember my last whooping too. I was 16. It was NOT a good thing to "sass" my aunt, who I called Honeymom. It's bad enough to get a whooping when you're 16-years-old, but what made it even worse is that she pulled down my pants and then proceeded to whoop my ass. That was the last time I ever talked back to her. I didn't dare do it again. I really enjoyed reading this--I like to write short stories too about real-life events.

The Slingshot (Short Story) - 10/30/2003 7:18:47 PM
Now this takes me by surprise. Well written story. You bring the reader into your life event and show them exactly why it happened.

The Wild Ride (Short Story) - 8/6/2003 7:19:53 AM
Oh my! That is true love!

The Wild Ride (Short Story) - 8/6/2003 6:43:24 AM
An excellent story about what truly is important in our lives - the little things money can't buy!

The Wild Ride (Short Story) - 8/5/2003 11:25:55 PM
This is a lovely story Jack, it reminds me of an accident I had, driving along a very narrow English country lane in a long blue Utilabrake van. I saw a car approaching and as there wasn't enough room for both of us, I started to back up slowly towards a lay-by. I didn't realise the back wheel was slowly rising up a hedge bank until suddenly - in slow motion - the van started to topple onto the drivers side. I jammed my elbow into the window and said "Oh God, he'll kill me!" and one of my daughters, about 4 years old at the time, slid over the back of the front sit and ended up standing on a window. All I remember is telling her "get off the window and stand on the wall!" The driver of the car was gob-smacked, I handed him my keys up through the passenger door and he opened the back doors so we could get out. The only damage was a broken mirror and some leakage from the battery. I was quite surprised - he didn't kill me! maybe if there had been more damage....? Jackie <> <

The Wild Ride (Short Story) - 8/5/2003 7:39:36 AM
What a thoroughly enjoyable story...real life with a real lesson about material things and where their importance should be in our lives. Super story Jack.

The Wild Ride (Short Story) - 8/5/2003 7:20:23 AM
Now this is the type of story I love to read. An example of how materail things are not important. Wonderful to have but not as important as our relationship with the people in our lives. You make a great couple!

Mama (Short Story) - 3/15/2003 1:20:45 PM

Mama (Short Story) - 3/13/2003 2:03:26 AM

Mama (Short Story) - 3/9/2003 6:06:13 AM
Nice. It goes without saying that each of us who have found that "special" person and manage to hold onto them for as many years as you have, deserve to do a little boasting and remembering. What makes your story so unforgetable is simple. You wrote it and I kust know Mama is proud.

Mama (Short Story) - 3/8/2003 9:53:54 AM
Ah, this brought back a lot of memories for me. The only thing that would make this write more perfect is a picture of her in that green dress! I love it, Jack!

Fantastic write, Jack. There have been many lonely people who finally found true love is some of the oddest of places: football games, dance halls, the movies, etc. I am a firm believer that if love is meant to be, it will instill itself in due time when it is ready and often, when we least expect it. Take care, my rhyming friend, Jill

One never loses in loving God, in seeking the imposibility of total perfection or believing we attain it, is where we often lose our humanity.

As sad as the death of a child is, Jack, the impact that they make upon us in their death is so strong. We hold on to them forever. Their innocence rings like a bell in our heart and soul always. Even if we never knew them, they touch our lives. This is not only a beautiful poem, Jack, but it gives the reader so much to think on after the read. Take care, Sherry

The Words (Poetry) - 1/9/2005 5:45:44 PM
I see the same thing when I look at a cross grain of wood I find it so interesting that layer upon layer hugs the older year, and protects it nature is a story unto itself, we just have to stop and observe this is a wonderful wonderful poem jack only an artist/poet like yourself would see the beauty revealed by this act....and good for us that you did, and expressed it so beautifully to share with us...... ty woody! lol Anita :)

The Hands of Time (Poetry) - 1/4/2005 4:20:39 PM
If we could but for a moment, Turn back the hands of time. i wish :)I love this poem, excelent written!!!

The Hands of Time (Poetry) - 1/4/2005 11:13:28 AM
Hello, Jack. :) This piece, to me, shows why we can't turn back time. If we went back, we would not be who we are now. If we changed our past, we wouldn't need the current future, the truth of making mistakes, the loss of appreciating beauty when we have it, or even the killing of a bug, or a man, would negate the passage we've already been given. But, there are more lives and futures than the Now placement. When our spirits lose the flesh, whether recrafted into another body, or ready to continue to the next plane, it is all a process of learning, of awareness and consent. If we didn't feel the pain or regrets of the past, we also wouldn't know the joys and marvels of growing and expanding our true forms, the soul. And that is the sign of exceptional poetry, it prods and guides the conscious to reach ever deeper and higher to find the truth of Life. I don't know what it is, at this time, but I know it is there. And am eager to follow self into self to find it. :)

The Hands of Time (Poetry) - 1/3/2005 7:58:22 PM
Very captivating rythm, Jack. Vicky

The Hands of Time (Poetry) - 1/3/2005 4:45:18 PM
the past is like a puddle ... it's form remains the same yet the wind sets its surface to ripple ...

The Hands of Time (Poetry) - 1/3/2005 9:14:49 AM
You know, itís said that hindsight is 20/20, yet knowing what is known today, truly allows one to savor those visions of yesterday both good and not so good. One can easily apply this timeless creation in all facets of oneís life in order to find the tranquility needed to survive the onslaught of memories lived. Thanks for sharing it. Take good care and be well.

The Hands of Time (Poetry) - 1/3/2005 6:33:13 AM
I think we would not be the same person for sure!! Thanks for sharing....I remember this one all too well!! Love Tinka

The Hands of Time (Poetry) - 1/3/2005 6:27:52 AM
There are those that I would have told that I loved them or other things like that but I can change time by telling those now that I love them before time goes forth any sooner.

The Hands of Time (Poetry) - 1/3/2005 3:50:05 AM
This is a wonderful poem, Jack. It gives the reader a lot to chew on as I sit here wondering exactly which moment from my past I would choose. I can think of a couple of times when I have done something hurtful and foolish that I would love to erase from my past, but perhaps those things are there to keep me from doing the same at another time in my life. Perhaps I would persue a happy time that I have forgotten and relive the joy seen through a child's eyes. Nice job, Jack. I missed this the first time so thank you for the repost. Take care, Sherry
