The Imprisoned Mind (Book) - 7/30/2009 7:50:40 AM
Oh Daniel, I can't even begin to express how I felt when I read your book. We live so far away from each other, however I knew that you had suffered for years & years, I didn't see you very often. But I can remember talking to you on the phone sometimes, your mind in a complete fog... it was like talking to a total stranger. Your book made me cry because I love you so much, and it made me so sad to see how much suffering you have endured for such a long time. Your brother and I are so happy that you have finally found the right treatment, not only restore your body but also your mind. It is so wonderful to have YOU back. I want to encourage you to please keep writing. I've known you and your family for 40 years now, and I know what horror and hell your childhood was. If you decide to write again, telling your story, I know that you will help so many others the same way you've helped people by sharing your story about your addiction to pain medications. God bless you, Daniel. You inspire me and I know that your book(s) will inspire and lift up others. I love you...

The Imprisoned Mind (Book) - 5/16/2009 4:13:45 PM
Daniel, This is a powerful testament to your strength and determination to free yourself from prescribed medication.I applaud this work. Many parts touched me deeply. For example, when you had to leave your oldest son in California to graduate from high school without you and the rest of the family,I can imagine how hard that was for all of you. It is my hope that you will continue to improve. I pray that you are still fighting the good fight, and that the medication you mentioned in the book is still working for you. Continued success. Barbara Henry

The Imprisoned Mind (Book) - 3/17/2009 7:26:13 PM
I would like to say thank you to the author. I had surgery on my right knee, in the summer of 2003. My knee has healed fine, although I have found that I am addicted to pain medications. I have tried so many times to quit taking them, and have also been through 2 rehab programs, and still could not stop. I was looking on the internet to see if there was anything that could help, because I had heard of a new medication, but knew nothing about it. I came across this book, "The Imprisoned Mind". After reading this book I felt as though the author and myself had been living the same life. It is amazing to me how this man has come so far. I have since found a dr. in my area, and am now on the Suboxone program. What a great feeling to have my life back as I once knew it. Once again, I would like to thank you for sharing your story. It has truely been a blessing to me.

Summer of 1967 (Short Story) - 9/10/2009 4:34:40 AM
You're absolutely right about "the things kids do". This sounds like a rare fond moment from your childhood, Daniel. It's terrible to think of you and your siblings as abused children. My heart breaks for you!!! But a positive thing is you chose not to perpetuate your childhood, and you grew into a warm, decent human being. That's all that matters now!! Great job, I really enjoyed the imagery in your story. Anna

YOU STORY ABOUT THE ANGEL TELLS ME THAT YOU ARE A SPECIAL PERSON DANIEL...GOD HAS YOU ON THIS EARTH FOR A SPECIAL REASON AND PERHAPS YOU ARE JUST BEGINNING TO COME INTO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THAT REASON WITH YOUR BOOK AND THE TESTIMONY OF GOD'S DELIVERANCE FROM YOUR ADDICTION...NOW, THERE IS SOMETHING THAT I NEED TO KNOW...DID YOU EVER SEE THAT 'MAN IN THE BOX' AGAIN? 'CAUSE IF YOU DIDN'T...COULD IT HAVE BEEN ANOTHER 'ANGEL'? ANOTHER TEST OF YOUR FAITH AND GENEROSITY? IN ANY CASE...YOU PASSED SUPERBLY...AND GOD REWARDED YOU WITH A 'HONEST' MECHANIC...WHICH IS ALMOST UNHEARD OF THESE DAYS(SMILE). GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS DANIEL AND THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS WONDERFUL STORY. JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

The Man In the Box (Short Story) - 8/24/2009 5:22:35 PM
What a wonderful story! These verses come to mind: "If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." James 2:15-17 (King James Version) Your faith is very much alive. Susan

YOUR QUEST TO HELP OTHERS IS TRULY A BLESSING. THE BEST PERSON TO SPEAK ON THE SUBJECT OF DRUG ADDICTION IS A PERSON WHO PERSONALLY KNOWS THE AGONY OF SUCH AN ADDICTION. MAY YOU BE SUCCESSFUL IN ALL YOUR EFFORTS TO 'FREE' OTHERS AS YOU HAVE BEEN SET FREE. THANKS FOR SHARING AND GOD BLESS. JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

A Boy and His Dog (Short Story) - 7/30/2009 8:06:45 AM
Daniel, after reading your short story about Softie I want to encourage you again, to write about your childhood. Like I said in my review/comment of your book, "The Imprisoned Mind", I've known you for 40 years. We met as teenagers, when I started going steady with your brother, Boone. (Now married 35 years). Anyway, what I want to say is PLEASE, if you are able, begin journaling your memories of growing up with your father. I've told a few close friends I've known, about what terrible and unimaginable abuse that your and your four brothers and sister endured from that man. Before I met you all I had never even known that families could have such evil under their roofs. I always tell people about the Keith family, and how all of the children grew up to be Christians, wonderful parents, and devoted spouses. Healing can and does happen when we trust the Lord, and ask him for forgiveness for our own sins, but also to be able to let go of the pain and injury from such an abusive father. Your testimony is so powerful, Daniel. I will pray that God will give you strength and encouragement if you decide to write your journal. I love you...

A Boy and His Dog (Short Story) - 7/29/2009 3:58:16 AM
Oh my God what a tragic, heartwrenching story, Daniel. No child should ever have to endure an abusive parent. But I firmly believe we all answer for our behaviour one day! Bless you Daniel... Anna

In the Company of An Angel (Short Story) - 7/4/2009 11:31:13 AM
Wow! What an amazing story Daniel. Very well written.....and yes, I do believe in angels! Hugs, Anna

In the Company of An Angel (Short Story) - 6/24/2009 7:20:29 AM
Daniel, one thing I like about this is that the angel wasn't a beautiful feminine one. Seriously, angels are so misunderstood, and misrepresented and exalted, too. (sometime you might enjoy my poem, "Um, Lord, about Your angels..." which is humorous but sincere) We are not to pray to angels, but only to the Lord God Almighty. Anyway, this is such a treasure of a story. I'm really glad you shared it. I especially like the BIG Bible. This makes me wonder what was happening in your lives at the time. God often sends extra-special blessings at hard times. Keep writing! Connie

A Boy and His Dog (Short Story) - 6/4/2009 11:09:16 PM
Very intense story. Very well written, but really intense and sad. I am truely speechless. It is horrible that people can be so cruel.

A Boy and His Dog (Short Story) - 5/16/2009 10:59:34 AM
WOW, i used to think that my mother was cruel in everything that she did. This just goes to show that someone else always has it worse then you do. SO be thankful for what you do have. I am really blessed to have you in my life. I would love to say that I wish none of this happened, but you would not be the amazing man you are today. I love you very much and I am so happy that you are here. You have turned out to be a wonderful husband and father. No matter what life threw at you.You have a wonderful gift. I also want to thank-you for sharing your story with the world. God Bless

In the Company of An Angel (Short Story) - 5/11/2009 1:13:04 PM
Hey, here's an interesting topic that many have spoken about, multitudes of books have been written, many have pondered their existence. Angels. Have I ever seen one? hmmm. I have, I think. ummmm, I think. Hey......I want to tell you my Angel story. I was in the Philippines. I was on my first "float", my first "operations in the field" We cruised on the USS DENVER it was an American troop carrier. It took us a few days at sea to reach the Philippines from Okinawa, Japan. One night on this ship.......(you were not suppose to go on deck after taps. Taps is the official time for bed.) hehee I went up to the front deck. It was a beautiful no cloud night. I saw the universe that night. I actually saw the Milky-Way, it was so awesome. If I had gotten pictures of what I saw, I'd be a rich man today. God is so awesome! I sat there for a few hours and just stared in awe.......it was real cool....I went straight up to the farthest part of the front of the ship and leaned over the point of the ship (very front) and looked into the water there were about 10 or 12 dolphins racing along side of the ship. I was so awed at what My God had created. It was a surreal experience for me. Have you ever had one of those? of course you have, "rides on waves" Any way, We arrived in the Philippines. In a port known as Subic bay. The city was Olongapo and we were given 4 days of a little R&R (rest and relaxation) :-) So all the guys spent the next 4 days in Sin city. Me too, hehe. But I was so full of the Holy Spirit, and I was so excited for the Lord, that that crap didn't faze me a bit. (and I'm not GAY) hehe. Philippines is a very poor country, much like Mexico.......as I walked across the bridge away from the navy base (clean and open) the river separated the base from the city......the River was very nasty......filled with garbage and across the bank was the city......uhhhh houses....made of tin, cardboard, plywood, (it was a sight to behold for sure....) where people built along the river. The city was fairly well structured though, with lots of people, You could barley walk...with out people bouncing off of you.......and when they spotted that I was an American off the ship, they flocked to me.....mostly kidds.(and I say kidds for a reason) Like little goats, they would follow me everywhere......and beg for pesos.....Gimme peso....Gimme Peso....a million times, at first I gave out half my check....(just got paid) and these guys were like flies on crap.... well after the third day.....I had about a hundred dollars left, I gave it all out.......those kids......made me so angry......then on the fourth day.....I was going to buy some shirts...and things...and I did. (I had about 10 dollars left after I ate) I was standing on a wooden porch of the store front, (I just came out of a shakey's pizza ....Philippine style....not sure what it was that I ate that day.....but it wasn't sausage. :-) as I stood there, waiting, I felt someone grab at the back of my shirt, so I turned around and I looked down....there was this old woman with no legs holding on to my shirt..., 1 hand out (in the begging position) she asked me for a peso. Her hands were very worn and old .....oh....I'm so ashamed to say this, but I pulled away from her, all 4 days I had been handing out pesos, and fen-ding off people begging (mostly Kids) I told her emphatically No!, and I turned and walked around the corner. Well....No sooner had I turned the corner God spoke to my heart..."My God That woman had no legs and you only care about your last 10 dollars?" ding!.....so I turned around....I swear it could have been no more then 3 or 4 seconds of time, but when I went back around the corner, she was gone. I looked everywhere and I couldn't find her, I spent the next 10 minutes looking all over, and asking people if they saw her....and all that night that scripture haunted me....Hebrews 13: 1-3 That woman had no legs, where the heck did she go? All the way back to Okinawa....on the ship, I contemplated that......and I still contemplate it today.....

Dear Mr. Keith. Thank you for sharing your story with us. God speaks to us through his many devices. Sometimes we are not aware of it and other times it is so very clear that the most stubborn person cannot deny it. You have experienced something that neither nor your wife will ever forget. I am sure that it has changed your life in some way. We must always be thankful for the gifts God has given us and share them with others. Thank you for sharing yours. All the best to you and your family. Regards, Mableine.

Oh Daniel... this is such an amazing story, and YES, YES... I do believe it! He walks, doesn't he? I love this story because it gave me chills as I read it, knowing who this angel was.... Thankfully, you and your wife and child were kind and good to this angel, and He very well may have protected you all as well! Hallelujah! Blessings, lindalaw

A Boy and His Dog (Short Story) - 4/5/2009 10:21:09 AM
Thank you for your comment Mark. Yes it is a true story that I had blocked out of my mind, until the death of mine and my wifes dog a year ago. My dad was and is a severe alcoholic. I have not seem my dad in over 22 years. I mentioned in my book, "The Imprisoned Mind", that people use the crutch of a bad childhood as there reason for being an addict, and that is not the reason for their addiction. I have been working on my autobiography which may take several years, but it will span my abusive childhood to my life now. Again, thank you for your comment and may God Bless You.

A Boy and His Dog (Short Story) - 4/4/2009 5:56:48 PM
Daniel, what a sad story. I can't even imagine the little boy holding his dieing Softy in his arms as the poor thing struggled to death. What a beast the father is/was. You say this is an excerpt from your biography? This is a true story? As a true dog lover, it is my hope that your father died as poor Softy, in the throws of gut wrentching pain. Well written story. Mark Lichterman

Excerpt from The Imprisoned Mind (Short Story) - 3/29/2009 1:04:36 PM
Daniel, I agree with you.I also know people who are too dependent on medication. This is especially troublesome because oftentimes the medicines interfere with each other. I wonder if some foods can replace some of the medicines that are taken much too frequently and for too long? This is a real serious problem, and I thank you for addressing it. I am sure many people will give this some serious thought, and hopefully take the right action.Good luck!

From your prayer, I believe that you are steadfast. To seek His guidance and His power, but be willing to take No for an answer, is true wisdom. This poem especially touches me, because I can identify with much of it. He is faithful, though, and our constant strength. Connie
